Weekly Preliminary Unemployment Claims Lower to 201,000

This was launched yesterday (because of Nationwide Day of Mourning). The DOL reported:

Within the week ending January 4, the advance determine for seasonally adjusted preliminary claims was 201,000, a lower of
10,000 from the earlier week’s unrevised stage of 211,000. The 4-week shifting common was 213,000, a lower of
10,250 from the earlier week’s unrevised common of 223,250.

The next graph exhibits the 4-week shifting common of weekly claims since 1971.

The dashed line on the graph is the present 4-week common. The four-week common of weekly unemployment claims decreased to 213,000.

The earlier week was unrevised

Weekly claims have been decrease than the consensus forecast.
