Complete housing begins in September have been barely above expectations and begins in July and August have been revised up. A stable report.
The third graph reveals the month-to-month comparability for whole begins between 2023 (blue) and 2024 (pink).
Complete begins have been down 0.7% in September in comparison with September 2023. The YoY lower in September whole begins was due weak point in multi-family begins.
Single household begins have been up year-over-year in 13 of the final 15 months, whereas multi-family has been up year-over-year in just one of final 15 months. 12 months-to-date (YTD), whole begins are down 3.4% in comparison with the identical interval in 2023. Single household begins are up 10.1% YTD, and multi-family down 30.6% YTD.
