    Retail Gross sales Elevated 0.1% in August

    On a month-to-month foundation, retail gross sales elevated 0.1% from July to August (seasonally adjusted), and gross sales had been up 2.1 p.c from August 2023.

    From the Census Bureau report:

    Advance estimates of U.S. retail and meals providers gross sales for August 2024, adjusted for seasonal variation and vacation and trading-day variations, however not for value modifications, had been $710.8 billion, a rise of 0.1 p.c from the earlier month, and up 2.1 p.c from August 2023. … The June 2024 to July 2024 p.c change was revised from up 1.0 p.c to up 1.1 p.c.
