Augusta Innes Withers/RHS Lindley Collections
I’ve not too long ago had a double serving to of botanical tradition, beginning with a terrific exhibition at Tate Britain, London. Now You See Us: Ladies Artists in Britain 1520-1920 places a highlight on feminine artists, lots of whom have been unfairly forgotten, and challenges stereotypes.
Throughout the exhibition there’s a part on flowers, together with Mary Delany’s collages. Naturalist Joseph Banks mentioned that her works have been the one botanical pictures from which he might reliably determine a plant species.
